How to encourage (and monetize) creativity

20. June 2022.

Many experts believe that creativity isn't something we're born with, but rather something we develop and practice. If it isn't nurtured throughout our upbringing and life, it can disappear, just as it can be encouraged with the small tips we've provided below.

1. Change your routine

Daily habits greatly influence how and how much we use our brains. General life changes also lead to new ideas. Simply changing your commute, morning routine, or hobby can help you see things from a different perspective.

2. Vision Board

Sometimes the problem is that we have too many ideas without a visible connection that we don't know how to implement, because we don't know where to start. In this case, it helps to "dump" all the ideas in the form of a so-called vision board—whether it's images, texts, materials, colors, or goals. This way, we collect them in one place, and it's then easier to find a connection between them.

3. New Places

Your environment greatly influences your mindset, so as soon as you feel the need for a change, changing your location, even for a short time, is an excellent way to find inspiration. This could be a walk through an unfamiliar neighborhood, a trip to nature, or a journey—the important thing is to start exploring and to jot down the ideas that are sure to follow.

4. Research

When we have a need to create something new or an idea of what we'd like, exploring endless ideas on the internet, in books, or even in movies and music can spark the initiative to get started. The best platform for creative ideas is probably Pinterest, with endless inspiration from various fields.

5. Books

Following on from the previous point, there are many books about creating in various ways that people around the world claim have been the catalyst for their creativity. A simple keyword search will bring up numerous publications on creativity, but some of the most frequently recommended books are Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert and Be Creative by Dr. Yeh Kam.

You've found inspiration – what now?
